Mel-Lofi is based on the Mellotron samples recorded by Taijiguy and brings a total of 23 presets distributed across 5 main instrument categories.
All the samples were slightly edited and most important, were looped for best playability. But even so, the sound remains rough and lo-fi, we wanted to keep the feel and sound of the original instrument.
As an extra, we added 4 original effect layers: vinyl, radio noise, mechanical belt noise, and rain. They each have on/off button and volume sliders, also they’re labeled with their corresponding note on the keyboard.

Mel-Lofi is available in VST/VST3 Windows and VST/VST3/AU macOS. It is compatible with the latest versions, also it is natively compatible with M1 chips.

Gorgeous sound! Sadly, it doesn't work with LMMS.

It's nice to finally have a free plugin that uses all of the Taijiguy Mellotron samples! This does exactly what it needs to do effectively. The built-in effects and modifications are also a nice touch. One critique I might make would be that I wish you could turn the attack down even lower than it allows you to. Aside from that, however, this is a really solid plugin.

While the brass settings are authetic-sounding reproductions of the individual instruments, the Violins are poor, sounding more like an electric organ from the 1960s, or even the clavioline used on 'Telstar' by the Tornados. Furthermore, the two settings for 'Voices' are exactly the same, and appear to have an organ layered into them, which completely spoils the effect. As far as I'm concerned, only the Brass sounds are useable here, but only for use as an authentic saxophone, trumpet and trombone, particularly for layering. As far as the sound of an actual mellotron is concerned, there are much better alternatives, such as Redtron, Tapeotronic and Tapeworm. A particularly annoying feature of this plugin is that when a new instrument is selected, all the controls reset to default. It would be far better if these remained in the position set by the user.
The samples are the same samples that are used in Redtron_SE.

These sound okay, some better than others. When you get the arturia midi controller it comes with Arturia Labs and there are a few Mellotron sounds from their paid synths that sound great, plus the tone wheel changes the sound in great ways.

Nice variety of sounds with this one. Probably the best free Mellotron plugin out there.
Artifake Labs will always be no1 if we speak about Mellotron emulators...

This is a really excellent virtual instrument plugin. The sounds are very good. Pleasing to my ear with this Lo-fi plugin. Thanks audiolatry for this. audiolatry has great plugins.
