The tuning is solid. Thank you to Bigcat for making this from these excellent, classic Rick samples by Project16!!

Very usable, won't replace a real bass, but for use over breakbeats I've found this plugin just right for the style.

THis bass is NOT out of tune. Neither is the picked version. I have used it with lots of other VSTs and it is in tune with all of them. You may be using it with other VSTs that ARE out of tune, but this bass VST is not.

Same as with the picked version, this bass is out of tune.

Cranky - not sure what you are doing or not doing, or what DAW you are using but I find that this VST produces an awesome clean bass sound in both Adobe Audition and Reaper. It uses samples of an actual Rickebacker bass guitar, but only the fingered samples. BigCat also made another VST using the same guitar's picked samples. If you add a bass amp VST, to boost the sound, it sounds even better. I am using this by trying to emulate the way Chris Squire used to process his Rickenbacker (though I obviously cannot get that exact sound) by using this fingered VST on one track and the companion "picked Bass" VST from BigCat, using the same Rick's samples, on another track. I used the same Midi file on both tracks, so they play in perfect synch, and balance the volumes until they sound right. On the fingered bass track, I use a bass amp VST and 2x15" cab simulation and on the picked bass track, I use a guitar amp VST and 4x12-inch cab simulation. With a little tinkering, you can boost the sound in all kinds of ways, until it comes out how you want it. Give it another try - I absolutely love these two Rickenbacker VSTs from BigCat and Project16 - big thanks to both guys for making these available :)

Thank you! I actually gleaned a lot from your helpful post! Yes, I downloaded and tried Project16 Picked Bass, and it's really not bad at all... I may take you up on your suggestion of using a bass amp plugin and cab simulator.

Incapable of producing a clean bass sound.
