basiQ is an acronym for Baxandall simulation equalizer.
It is a 3-band equalizer plugin with photorealistic graphics from Kuassa, Inc. As the name implies, the engine are modeled after a design of classic baxandall equalizer well known for its smooth shelves and natural-sounding responses, similar to the tone control on a hi-fi systems. The simple controls allow you to shape the frequency from many sources to your needs, from opening up an air on guitar leads, adding a gentle shimmer on vocals, giving extra ‘oomph‘ on your synth basslines, or even getting more presence from your masters.
This straightforward equalizer are well-suited for mixing or mastering purpose although the neutral characteristic of basiQ are more suitable as a ‘sweetening‘ device or giving some transparent ‘tilt‘ to your mix rather than a surgical device, best paired on master output with Kratos Maximizer, another audio processing plugin from Kuassa, Inc.

Nice and easy eq with gentle curves but the fixed frequencies are a bit useless - at least for my taste: When boosting highend you will always boost transients too - because the corner frequency of the highshelf is set too low.

It's simple to use and sounds good. The only thing I'm missing is an option to reset knobs by double click. I know it's a minor thing, but it really saves time and is expected. For now my goto free EQ would be Brit Channel by Analog Obsession. It has some extra features like parametric EQ, hi-shelve, low cut & saturation. For more complicated job there's Melda MEqualizer. But anyways, this EQ sounds really neat!

Worst EQ of my life too...but i will give info for full cap lock guy. Its heavy on cpu, very buggy, cant choose the shelf frequency and it sounds bad...really bad. I event took the time to take it out of my vst folder.

This is true to real Baxandal. I know because I've build couple of real ones. I use it all the time, great for vintage rock. Only improvement would be a components circuit tone modeling but it probably wouldn't work anyway since no plugin can sound like the real deal. To fix that, sometimes I run it through some hardware unit in bypass. Crazy? Maybe :)
It´s not crazy IMO! But you can also use a free saturation-plugin (Voxengo TubeAmp or FerricTDS) in combination with this eq to add some "anlogue circuit".

Record acoustic guitars through a microphone. Insert this in the track. Put the High knob at 1 o'clock. Other knobs at unity. Listen. Enjoy. Bounce it to a new track. Use it in the mix.
