All you need is already in your DAW. If not, you don't use Reaper...)

Excellent transparent comp. Use this for bass/bass drum ducking -sidechain. The fact you can alter the eq to sit too, makes it perfect. Amazing how many 'stock' plug ins do the job perfectly

Go to youtube and watch the Dan Worrall video..."What's Wrong With Stock Plugins? ReaComp" It will blow your mind about this compressor.

Best comp available at any price. No fuzzy or ballooning sound. Very clean, means you decide what saturation you use without beings stuck with whats build in.

This is a great transparent sounding compressor without any "voodoo" and a free alternative to the famous w***s ren- comp. With this fantastic freebee you can really learn, how to setup a compressor for different tasks. Yes, the GUI is´ not exiting, but professional (similar to broadcast- software). And like other user said before: For more charakter, combine the "ReaComp" with a saturation vst like "ferricTDS" or "tubeamp" from Voxengo

BTW: After trying it for a longer time in a serious way, I have to say this VST has a kind own behavior (what doesn´t(!) mean "coloration")-> In a positiv way it´s a more "aggressive" compressor, similar to SSL- style- comps.

Sterile, Charmless sound and I don't like the interface. It's hard to dial in settings without overshooting, e.g. trying to increase the output by 2db and you slip and it goes up by 12db. Maybe this was a good compressor at one time but this seems to be a very crude plugin to me. On the plus side, CPU usage is very low and it does actually work without glitches.

Ctrl+click for fine tuning settings. This is not a 'character' compressor and therefore sterile and charmless (i.e. transparent) is exactly what it's designed to be.

I love the idea of "pre-comp". I really wanted to try a compressor with this exact feature. I was excited to find reacomp but for whatever reason I can't see all the controls, the vst windows is too small so it's unusable as 3 fader controls and 2 checkbox's are unadjustable!

I used almost every compressor with a sidechain feature from this site... This is simply the best!

Great to use, especially because it's free.

Amazingly versatile. Good for sidechaining, de-essing and any kind of frequency specific compression. Transparent. Stick a saturation plug in front of it if you want some mojo.

It's probably one of the most useful singleband compressors available for free. The sidechain function is great, if your host support it, that is. Really great actually!

Great dynamic control with no audible side affects, good if you need an "invisible" compressor, use something like the blockfish compressor if you want colouration.
